Last week I learned that ‘The Medium is the message”.
But if we’re focusing on the logic of the medium, behind this logic are active users, us.
The logic of the old way of doing things in society has been established into a new understanding, the legacy media way, and overall the notion of material transformation and how we as users have evolved from passive to active, creating new possibilities.
You have your Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, Tumblr, Twitter, the list goes on and on but if we are focusing on the new logic of media making, we have certain cultures that follow them;
- Non-industrial culture
- Industrial culture
- Post-industrial culture
- Digital aesthetics
Along with these four cultures, craftsmanship becomes an important aspect, “The quality of the result is not predetermined” (David Pye), going against the logic of production line, meaning media in its different forms is constantly changing, improving, but also continually at risk during the process of making (David Pye).
Focusing on aesthetics, either new and old, but always present, especially more than ever in current contemporary society.

Now introducing new formats of aesthetics, as I learned that “The glitch’ is more varied than ever as well as ‘The aesthetics of mess’, but inevitably aesthetics are e v e r y w h e r e , and they are just one of the examples that reflect on the ‘new’ form of digital experiences made possible by us, active users.
